The first Flamenco Biennale of Guadalajara (Mexico)

 

 

Guadalajara (Mexico) will host the first Flamenco Biennale from 5 to 12 of October, with venues in the Instituto Cultural Cabañas and the Teatro Degollado. For just over a week of activities participants will be able to attend workshops, several screenings as well as music and dance performances with the Antonio "El Pipa" Flamenco Company as top on the bill.

The projected was born with the aim of turning the musicians, vocalists and dancers of Jalisco professionalThe 1st Guadalajara (Mexico) Biennial is a personal initiative of the dancer Patricia Solana Cilvet. The aim of the objective is to improve the quality of classes available and to offer the possibility to amateurs and professionals of the area to update their studies with Spanish guitar, vocals, dance and percussion masters.

The activities range from film and documentary screenings (5, 6 and 7 October) and live flamenco performances (8, 9 and 10 October) at the Teatro Degollado. The festivals closure will be on the 12 October at the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, with the presence of Antonio "El Pipa" who will stage his show "De Tablao".
The workshops will be held from 5 to 9 October at the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, and will be open to the public with a total of 15 hours classes, between vocals, dance, guitar and percussion, aimed at mid to advanced students.

The workshops will be given by members of the Antonio "El Pipa" Company: Pascual de Lorca (guitar), Antonio "El Pipa" (dance), Luis de la Tota (percussion) and María Mezcle (vocals). The 10 October the students will give a presentation at the Teatro Degollado, at 20:30 pm.
